THE PACIFICA NATIONAL BOARD FIRES SUMMER REESE

Pacifica National Board Meeting – March 13, 2014 Report-Out

“The Pacifica National Board met in closed session to discuss personnel matters related to individual employees of
the foundation. We thank Summer Reese for her service to date and will not continue her employment effective March 14, 2014”.

This is what we found on the Pacific.org website over the week-end.  We consider this to be a Progressive move.  The victory over the Summer Reese led faction on and off the Pacifica National Board (PNB) sets the stage (enables) for us to now go on the offensive against their national programming which was to spread west coast programming throughout the network.
Locally, this is the time to go on the offensive against Tony Bates, the WPFW Interim Program Director, and the programming he has been told to do from the former Executive Director’s office. Stay-tuned.  More will come.

Norman, PNB Vice-Chair, No Vote!

PNB promotes Tony Norman to PNB Vice-Chairperson without a vote after numerous community comments announcing Norman’s status as an elected DC city official. The PNB seems to say you replace Norman, but DC should have this position. The PNB leaves Norman to DC’s LSB for better by-law compliance.

January CMS Meeting

The regular monthly CMS Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  We will begin on time and end on time, meeting at Martin Luther King Library (wheelchair accessible) 9th and G Street, N.W. Washington, DC Room A-10.

Saturday, Dec.7
8 – 11 PM
The Washington Ethical Society
7750 16th St NW, Washington, DC 20012

On December 1, 2012, hundreds of members of the WPFW family, including listeners, programmers and staff of the station, came together at Busboys and Poets and at Plymouth Congregational Church to save our station and its mission of jazz and justice. One year later—after hard work, battles, rallies and strategies—we are taking the time to celebrate our community struggle and victories.

This is is a community celebration sponsored by the Concerned Members and Supporters of WPFW, It is not sponsored by the station. It is a unifying event that welcomes back and brings together all those who declared in a loud voice that WPFW is truly the people’s station. Donation is $10. Proceeds will be directed to priorities voted on by members, be they station support, legal fees, community engagement, publicity and other administrative needs.
